| A great meet yesterday with a ton of great performances! |
| The distance runners headlined the day by setting countless PR's all over the track. They were led by State Qualifyer in the 1600m Jason Hunt. Jason is our first automatic State qualifyer since 1999. He had a seven second PR in the race and was 2nd overall. Ryan Merriman also ran great scoring a 3 second PR in 4:33.09. Other PR's included: Chris Hancock (entering the sub-5 club) at 4:49.71, Joe Labrum 4:50.74, Kevin Hicken (the largest PR of the day - 15 seconds) in 4:56.35, Nate Scheiss, a 6 second PR in 5:13.89, and Craig Blake, a seasonal best in 5:15.10. |
| Davis Rasmussen also ran great in the 800m with a 3 second lifetime best in a 6th place finish of 2:03.60. The race of the day in the event came from Austin Brewer who ran a 10 second PR of 2:05.64 and placing 5th overall in the open. He also did it the hard way with negative splits of 1:03 and then 1:02. Jeff Denning with a 5 second PR in 2:10.47, Brayden Low with a 4 second PR in 2:11.99, Issac Hunt with an 8 second PR in 2:12.52, Taylor Irving with a 1 second PR in 2:12.89, Jameson Jenkins in a 3 second PR of 2:13.82, Curtis Blake a 3 second PR in 2:14.39, and Jordan Richardson, an 8 second PR in 2:15.89. |
| Clint Bobrowski was the onyl runner in the 3200m, and he made it worth watching with a 20 second PR in a time of 10:15.84. This was good enough for 5th place overall in the open section. |
| Jared Dimick also ran a great anchor leg on the winning medley relay from the open session. Devin Rappleye, Michael Anderson, and Andrew Christensen got the baton in position for Jared to run a 2:01 leg enroute to the victory. |
| The sprints were led by open session 100m Dash winner Jon White in a time of 11.36; only .06 off of State qualifying. This time would have been good enough to earn him 3rd overall in the invited session. He followed up this performance with a lifetime best in the invited 200 with a 3rd place finish in 23.21. Preston Nate also medaled in the 200 in 5th with a time of 23.33. The 4x100m relay also ran phenomenal with a 3rd place finish in the invited session earning themselves a medal. They were in 5th place at the last exchange, but Michael Anderson ran an amazing leg to get them up to 3rd. |
| Kevin Biesinger continued his tear through the 400m with a 1 second lifetime best time of 51.40. This was good enough for a second place medal in the open session. And like Jon, it would have earned him a medal in the invited session; he would have been 5th. Also earning lifetime PR's in the 400 were Andrew Christensen in 54.48, Mikey Andersen in 55.08, and Tony Fabrizio in 56.56. They also ran a great race in the 4x400m relay earing a 6th place finish with a time of 3:34. The fastest split in the relay was from Kevin who clocked a 51.2. |
| Bryan Olsen leaped to a 6' 1", only 1" off of hi lifetime best and 2" off of State qualifying. Preston Nate continued his domination of the LJ by leading a 2-3-4 placing with his 3rd consecutive 21' 11" jump. Bryan Olsen cleared the 21' barrier with a leap of 21' 4". Peng Se Lim placed 4th with a mark of 20' 10.75". We now have 3 jumpers qualifyed for the State meet. |
| The throwers were well represented by Mike Allen and Skye Maddux. Mike threw a 147' 9" toss to claim first plae honors in the open session and Skye tossed a 139' discus to take 7th place, but more important, qualify for the State meet. |
| Carsten Weldon competed well in the vault with a 6th place finish in the open session in 11' 6". |
| For the ladies, they were led by three amazing young women. Michelle Partridge, Shanna WYlie, and Kit Zeigle. |
| Michelle led the way with 3 State qualifying performances in the long jump, the 100m, and the 200m. She was able to place 2nd overall in the 100m with a PR of 12.76, a 4th place finish in the 200m with and outdoor best 26.41 (PR and indoor time of 26.30), and was the invited session champion (our only one of the day) in the long jump with a mark of 17' 9.25" This mark also earned her performance of the meet honors. |
| Shanna Wylie posted 2 State qualifying marks with 15.95, second place finish in the invited 100m hurdles. She also placed 3rd in the long jump with a State qualifying mark of 16' 10.25". She ran a seasonal best in the 300m hurdles of 40.04 and jumped 5' in the high jump. |
| Kit Zeigle ran a tremendous race with a 3rd place overall finish in the 1600m. Her time of 5:12.88 is also good enough for #4 all time here at BHS. |
| The 4x100m relay team of Sydney Betts (13.05), Tricia Spencer (12.61), Brittany Schneck (12.89), and Michelle Partridge (12.28) also ran a 51.00 State Qualifying time in the invited session good enough for 3rd place overall and a medal. |
| In the 400, there we PR's from CaliAnn Stringham in 1:09.00 and Teresa Sommer in 1:09.06 with Tami Dodds running a great time of 1:07.50. But the race of the day for this group was undoubtably the 4x400m relay. Sydney Betts started things off with a 1:02.3 performance which was a 2 3 second PR. Erin Hawker ran next in 1:05.5, followed by CaliAnn Stringham in 1:08.9 and Tami Dodds in 1:06.3. As a whole the team ran a 7 second seasonal best in 4:23.59. |
| In the distances, there were many great performances. In the 800m run, Jill Denning started things off with a 4 second PR of 2:38.43. Celeste Mabey ran a 6 second PR of 2:40.48. Caitlin Moser had the race of the day with an 11 second PR in 2:51.47. There were a slew of PR's and seasonal bests in the 1600m. Led by Andrea Stevens in a 10 second seasonal best in 5:35.34, an 8 second seasonal best by Stacie Grover in 5:36.25 (only 4 seconds off of her PR), an 8 second PR for Kara Hymas in 5:38.64, and a 3 second seasonal best by Erin Hawker in 5:46.19. |
| Brittany Schneck ran a great 300m hurdles in a time of 48.28 which was good enough for 6th place in the open session. |
| It was a fantastic meet and one well worth staying until the end for! Great job Miners and let's have fun at Weber State next week!! |
