AWARD'S DINNER
October 23, 2001

Thank you for your attendance and support this night as well as throughout the season. Our parents have been a large part of our successes this year, and the countless hours spent in the things you do have paid off for all of our athletes. Your team treats, care for all our runners, emotional support, and advice have been invaluable.
750
Those athletes receiving the "750 Shirt" have successfully completed a mileage requirement over the summer months in order to receive a commemorative shirt. Historically, this mileage requirement was 750, but that standard has now been adjusted to several experience levels of runners. All recipients achieved their mileage goal.
ALTA
Athletes receiving the "Alta Shirt" missed no more than two Alta Run over the course of the summer. This award has become prestigious enough that athletes routinely adjust their schedule and budget their time efficiently in order to be able to attend.
PARTICIPATION
Cross Country requires the ultimate in dedication and perseverance. Starting in 1998, all athletes who complete a season (to Region) in good standing will receive an award commemorating a year of cross country involvement. This award will be given yearly to all athletes worthy of the honor.
REGION MEDALS
Region II provides medals automatically for all top-10 placers in Varsity competition at the Region Championships. Traditionally, to emphasize the importance of JV competition at Region, our school provides additional medals to all Bingham Miners who place in the top-10 of the JV races, and any others who place beyond 10th place consecutively. These award winners are recognized with medals engraved with their Region place.
STATE STARS
Any competitor on the team who places as a varsity runner in any meet is awarded varsity status for the year. Among the honors that status earns is the awarding of a State Star for the letter jacket at the awards banquet, signifying varsity position on the team for that year.
ALL-STATE
All-State award winners are the best of the best, the top 10 placers in each classification each year at the state meet.
ACADEMIC ALL-STATE
The top-10 senior athletes in the State, ranked by overall grade-point-average, receive a certificate from the Utah High School Activities Association.
LETTERING
The athletes receiving letters have qualified under standards set in the Parent Packet given to all athletes at the start of the year. Student-athletes may letter in dual meets, Region Championships, or Invitational competition.
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
The caliber of the student-athletes on our team and the dedication shown by numerous runners allows us to honor certain competitors with special individual awards. These awards are specific to a contribution made to the team that deserves special recognition.
